Monad recently launched their foundation - the Monad Foundation, which has all but confirmed the project's plans to distribute its tokens via airdrop.

The EVM compatible layer-1 also teased testnet tasks with a recent post aimed at propping up Web3 users for their upcoming testnet. The post read: "Get ready for testnet in 1 step: 1. Download @phantom wallet"

This suggests a potential role the phantom Web3 wallet will play in carrying out transactions on the Monad testnet.

Monad's testnet will probably open another route to getting the Monad airdrop asides from the tedious 'nads' discord role which is only held by a privileged few. It will also allow users to have a feel of how the L1 will perform when its mainnet goes live.

The date for the launch of Monad's mainnet is yet to be announced.

Monad is a layer-1 blockchain protocol that offers single slot finality and a very high throughput using custom execution and consensus clients. It has minimal hardware requirements and is fully compatible with the EVM bytecode.

It is designed to be several times faster than Ethereum, with gas fees worth less than a cent all while engaging minimal hardware.

Monad blockchain protocol is being built by Category Labs (formerly known as Monad Labs). Category Labs is a software development and research company and is headed by James Hunsaker as CEO.
